Facebook Pulling Out All The Stops

So like me I'm sure you've noticed the new Facebook. Now it seems most people seem to hate it so far, but not me. Yes it is admittedly confusing at first, but what Facebook has done and is about to do is make a bigger push into eCommerce and make Facebook more of a hub for content sharing partnering with other sites like Spotify. Much of the new developing Facebook is still under wraps but over the course of the next few weeks Facebook will change completely. Much of these changes are to stave of competition from new competitor Google+, launched recently. The new push of lists is in direct competition with the Google+ feature "circles". Like most people change scares everyone at first but in the long run I think the new Facebook might actually be pretty awesome.

Google goes on spending spree

Google continues to move forward buying everything in sight. Under the leadership of CEO Larry Page Google has purchased Motorola mobile and Zagats just this summer. Now Google has their sights set on Hulu licensing, essentially buying rights to content on Hulu which they will likely use on their video site on youtube. NBCUniversal, Disney-ABC, and Fox Entertainment Group have been looking for buyers for Hulu recently with Yahoo, Amazon, and Dish Network at the head of the bidding wars. Google, however, has made huge undisclosed bids to buy content. How far they will go remains to be seen, as Anti-Trust investigations against the company continues. Which is highly likely in my opinion with the Department of Justices recent actions against an AT&T T-Mobile merger.

Air Mag Official Release Date

So the Air Mags sadly won't be self-lacing until 2015 but I get more excited every time I hear about these. Nike is partnering with Ebay to auction of a bunch of non-auto-laces for charity to go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. I can't wait for 2015 I personally will be the first in line for these bad boys.Let's just hope 2012 doesn't fuck all that up. Goddamn Mayans. Until then here's another trailer.

Your Board Can't Go on Water You Don't Have the Power...Nike to Release Self-Lacing Back to the Future Shoes

So after years of waiting they are finally hear. Nike are set to release the Air Mag the self-lacing shoes seen in Back to the Future II and I think I've just soiled myself. No word yet on the hoverboard.

Ravioli, Holy Canoli...Google buys Zagat

In attempt to break into local markets Google buys Zagat for an undisclosed amount. The company heads will continue to stay at the helm of Zagat but the purchase will allow Zagat to move into other cities and allow Google to add reviews to restaurants and other businesses into google maps. This news is potentially huge for Google after their failed bid for Groupon and Yelp. In 2008 Zagat co-founders Tim and Nina Zagat tried to sell their company to no avail. This news seems huge not just for Google but the online world as a whole. For some reason, though, I can't seem to get that iconic SNL skit with Adam Sandler and Chris Farley out of my head.

Watch Your Posts the Government Is Watching!

So according to "A research arm of the intelligence community wants to sweep up public data on everything from Twitter to public webcams in the hopes of predicting the future."
The project is part of Iarpa a spy wing in the Department of Defense which is supposed to investigate new technologies and the sole purpose of Iarpa is to sweep through publicly available information to predict "significant societal events, like a popular revolution." Similar to what is going on in with the "Arab Spring" revolutions going on in the Middle-East. Where a large portions of these revolutions have been organized through the internet and social media. Iarpa claims it will not use this program on the United States but that remains to be seen. This is definitely some spooky big brother shit to me.

Facebook to Release Music Service Later This Month

So I'm kinda stoked about this. Apparently Facebook is set to release a music service with the help of MOG Spotify and Rdio to let people stream music on the site. I've been wondering about this a long time since I started up on Facebook, in the heyday of MySpace. That was one thing I always preferred about MySpace was the ability to stream music right from my site and have my own little playlist. Well finally it's on Facebook. Some of the details so far are sketchy as the companies involved are tight lipped about it. Likely it will be similar to something like music radios such as Pandora or Spotify with an ad here and there so Facebook can help to further Monetize their site. Wondering why it's taken this long but I'm sure it's just like everything else Facebook does if they aint makin' money they aint doin' it.

Apple loses iPhone prototype...again

So this is kinda hilarious to me. Apple lost another iphone prototype in another bar. This time it was the iphone 5 at a San Francisco bar called Cava 22. Now if that wasn't bad enough Apple investigators impersonated police officers to gain access to a mans home to look for the lost phone. The whole situation is kinda retarded. You would have thought Apple would have learned their lesson last year when they lost the iphone 4. Furthermore, who the fuck are these dumbass employees that keep losing these phones in bars?

AT&T T-mobile merger blocked by Department of Justice

So I'm not sure how I feel about this. I feel like this was a bad decision by the Department of Justice. Granted the AT&T T-Mobile merger would have made AT&T the largest mobile company in the U.S. but there are a whole team of other mobile companies large and small. I would understand an Anti-Trust suit if AT&T took out all of the competition but positioning themselves to become the largest from the third largest just seems like good business practice and not monopolization. Tell what you think.
